Reverend Deacon Sylvanus (Sunny) Sunday Offorjebe is a Roman Catholic Deacon ordained for the Diocese of San Jose on May 14, 2016. Born in rural Nigeria and nurtured in his earliest days by his maternal grandmother, his childhood was shaped by tradition, faith, perseverance, and a providential infant baptism that set him on a lifelong Catholic path. The only child among his siblings baptized in the Catholic Church, he witnessed with gratitude as his parents and siblings later embraced the Catholic faith. He spent nine formative years in seminary formation for the Roman Catholic priesthood before accepting God’s will when that path closed.
After immigrating to the United States, Deacon Sunny rebuilt his life through university studies and a distinguished career that advanced to senior management roles in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He later founded a medical device quality system and regulatory compliance consulting firm, becoming a respected leader in his field. Guided by devotion to the Eucharist and strengthened by the unwavering support of his wife Sabina—whose formative years mirrored his own—and their children, he answered God’s call to the permanent diaconate.
Deacon Sunny currently serves at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and with the Nigerian Igbo Catholic Community of San Jose, offering pastoral care, preaching, and spiritual leadership across the Bay Area. His life and ministry reflect a deep commitment to faith, family, cultural heritage, and the quiet, persistent grace of God
